I’m not going to counter this article, which most probably agree is poorly written, but would like respond to the above comment. Both Social Work and Counseling programs prepare students to become therapists. However,
the quality of classes and instruction vary across universities. It is very
important to research your accredited school's program and field opportunities. States
vary in regards to hour requirements for one’s LPC and LCSW. After earning
one’s clinical licensure in either Counseling or Social Work, hours and years have
been put in so that the clinician can provide therapy in independent clinical settings.

Re: February is American Heart Month

The social media is one solid ground on raising awareness for such drives and campaign...Truly, one needs to pay attention to their heart on Valentines Day, check your food intake on dinner dates. Clinical counselors are not nearly as limited in scope or understanding as this article suggests. In no way are social workers more prepared to perform clinical assessments, advocate for clients, provide education, manage large caseloads, or function in leadership positions. Counseling programs are often more competitive and difficult to get into, which creates opportunities for social workers to make their field seem more broad and more open, which is not true. If you want to be a "therapist" I suggest trying to go the route of counseling instead of a social work program where you will be given little instruction on the delicate and intricate are of the talking cure- whereas in a counseling program you will receive hundreds of hours of supervised experience doing nothing but counseling.

K.F. Counselors trained in systemic family therapy would view the family within the larger system.
